We’ve known for a while that the startup funding winter is upon us. However, that’s not the full picture.

In June, dealmaking in both India and Southeast Asia fell to their lowest so far this year.
In Southeast Asia, startups raised $1.4 billion as megadeals were scarce and deal volume remained muted. The total startup funding in Southeast Asia in the first six months of 2022 now stands at $9.93 billion across 614 transactions.
Indian startups, meanwhile, amassed a mere $2 billion in June. Besides being a 13-month low, that figure is roughly half the amount raised in June 2021 ($3.83 billion) — at the peak of the second wave of COVID-19.
China alone bucked the trend. Startups here raised $4.8 billion in June — the highest so far in 2022, and up 25.7% from May.
