Dear Reader,

DALI Discount, a hard discount retail chain operating in the Philippines, received $23.3 million from growth equity firm Venturi Partners last week.

The investment marks the retailer’s Series C2 round. Other investors that have backed its Series C financing include private equity firm Creador and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This was ADB’s first agribusiness equity deal in the Philippines.

The Philippine retailer has so far received over [redacted] million in equity funding from external investors, including Pavilion Capital, according to its regulatory filings in Singapore. Creador alone has contributed [redacted] million, per DATA VANTAGE.

DALI stores are primarily set up in rural and peri-urban areas instead of premium commercial centres in larger cities. The hard discount retailing model keeps product prices low through high sales volume of a limited product range and lean operations.

India-based healthcare services provider RED.Health, formerly known as StanPlus, has secured fresh Series B funding from venture capital (VC) firms Jungle Ventures and HealthX Capital, per regulatory filings.

The company has issued Series B1 and B2 shares to the two investors. The Series B1 shares, issued as part of a convertible note agreement, were priced [redacted] than RED.Health’s previous financing in 2022, while its Series B2 price is [redacted] from that round.

According to Indian media reports, the Kalaari Capital-backed company was struggling to clear staff salaries earlier this year.

Founded in 2016, the startup initially offered ambulance services in case of emergencies. It later rebranded to RED.Health in 2023 as a comprehensive medical assistance platform.
